Dublin, Ireland, 2nd December 2019 — Europagrid became one of the sponsors of the 10th Dii Desert Energy Leadership Summit, taking place at the Adlon Kempinski Hotel in Berlin, Germany, on 25th and 26th November. Combined with the 10th Arab-German Energy Forum and in co-operation with Ghorfa (Arab—German Chamber of Commerce), the conference was held under the theme ‘The Energy Transition in the Arab World’.
Europagrid also attended the annual meeting of the Dii Advisory Board, which it is part of. Europagrid Founder and CEO, Rory O’Neill, hosted the Interactive Networking Roundtable on Power Grid Capacity and Interconnections, and participated as a speaker at the Top Executive Panel, discussing the current situation and challenges of the clean energy transition, including the potential of the Gobi desert in this scenario.
‘We need to build trust and transparency for all new developments, and this is because energy transition is moving fast,’ said O’Neill.
The event offered a unique platform for the exchange of knowledge, strategies, experience and personal networking among an international audience from the public and private sector. The program highlighted the holistic vision of energy transition and ‘dived’ into the practical aspects of the markets for renewables, energy storage, transmission and flexible demand.
At the same time, Dii Desert Energy announced their Desertec 3.0 program: becoming a market enabler for ‘green electrons’ and ‘green molecules’ from the deserts of MENA for MENA’s own population and eventually as a net exporter for the global emission free energy markets.
Europagrid is a specialised developer of cross-border transmission projects and energy internet grid technology. These projects help to connect renewable and carbon-free generation sources to key markets.
